Iribar, Rojo and Etxebe, with Susaeta for his 500 matches

The three players with more official games played in the history of Athletic Club, true zurigorri legends: Jose Angel Iribar (614), Txetxu Rojo (541) and Joseba Etxeberria (514) will be the responsible of giving Markel Susaeta a commemorating trophy of his 500 matches as a lion in the prolegomena of the Athletic Club – Real Betis fixture.

Susaeta played as a starter in the match against Sevilla in the return game of the Cup and, from the original armband he used as the captain of the team in his 500th match, the Club has designed an artistic work to commemorate and pay tribute to such an extraordinary career.

In addition to the original bracelet, the trophy includes a stone, a remain of the old San Mames, and an oak wood base engraved in laser where as well as the data related to the ephemeris, signatures of other three captains can be seen: Iker Muniain, Ander Iturraspe and De Marcos.

The winger from Eibar has become part of the select group of players who throughout the 121 years of life of the Club have reached half a thousand played matches. To the three already mentioned that occupy the podium and who will give Susaeta his well deserved prize, we should also add Andoni Iraola (510), who has excused his presence for being in Cyprus.
