All set for a new Genuine adventure

There is no other team in the world that spreads more joy and conveys excitement wherever it goes, that is the Genuine Athletic Club Fundazioa, the current Fair Play award. They form a united and enthusiastic group that, in a totally natural and authentic way, represent the true sporting spirit of the game. Before departing to Galicia, where this weekend they will play the second phase of La Liga, Aitor Elizegi and Juan Carlos Ercoreca visited the squad and shared intimate moments, laughter and emotions.

Gathered in the dressing room, the president encouraged the team to continue enjoying football as they had done until now: prioritising values over results. After all, Genuine red-and-white always wins, because every game they play is a celebration and a life lesson. Athletic Club feels fully reflected and identified with the companionship and sportsmanship image projected by the Foundation’s team.

This new Genuine expedition, which lives each day of competition as a true and exciting adventure, is made up of a selection of 16 players from different associations of people with intellectual disabilities (Geu-Be, Adizmi, GAUDE, Gorabide and Down Syndrome Foundation). Athletic Club Foundation collaborates with these associations as part of the social projects that they carry out https://www.athletic-club.eus/en/foundation/social-projects and together with those, the Club organises the Ahalegina Cup, a championship that takes place in the facilities of Lezama.

After the celebration of the first phase, LaLiga Genuine has been divided into two groups. Athletic Club Fundazioa is part of the Compañerismo Group together with SD Huesca, CF Reus, Sevilla FC, UD Almería, UD Las Palmas, Real Zaragoza, Fundación Málaga, Deportivo Alavés, RC Deportivo de la Coruña, Real Sporting de Gijón, Levante UD, SD Eibar Fundazioa and Real Valladolid.
