Aduriz: ‘I love derbies’

The red-and-white striker is looking forward to what will be his last match against Real Sociedad in San Mamés: ‘They are special and different matches’

Athletic Club has returned to training in a short week in which it awaits (Friday, 10 pm) the derby against Real Sociedad. After the preparatory session behind closed doors, Aritz Aduriz has appeared in the press room to analyse what will be his last derby in San Mamés.

It’s a different and special match. I love derbies and the healthy rivalry between people -the striker said- I’ve always said it’s one of the most beautiful games there is. It will be complicated because we face a team that has many resources, many alternatives. In attack they have different options and we have to defend very well because they have a lot of finish.

Aduriz has highlighted the value of playing at home and the permanent support of the fans: ‘In San Mamés we have to be such a strong team that we have been since the arrival of the coach. We haven’t lost here yet and it has to continue being a fortress‘. On a personal level, the red-and-white striker has shown his ambition with the desire to play ‘as many minutes as possible. I’m not satisfied with the role of revulsive. All my life I’ve tried to play as many games as possible and I’m not going to change in that respect. We’re here to help the team and it’s the coach who decides because they can only play eleven and we all want the same thing.’
