Lezama, with the presence of two youth players among the ten who have debuted in this league, continues confirming its work with the base
At the first stop due to international commitments and with three matchdays of the championship played, Athletic Club is the only team of La Liga Santander that has given the opportunity to have its first minutes (for now ten have been the debutants) in the highest category to more than one youth player. The protagonists, Oihan Sancet and Gaizka Larrazabal, made their debut with the red-and-white elastic against FC Barcelona in matchday 1 and against Getafe CF in matchday 2, respectively, supporting the bet for the youth academy of the club.
Sancet took part for the first time in the match that opened the league, in San Mamés and against FC Barcelona. The 19-year-old midfielder took the field in place of Óscar de Marcos, playing a total of 25 minutes. In the same way, Larrazabal had an important role in the draw of Getafe, in which he went out to the field after the unfortunate injury of Óscar de Marcos, participating in the final minutes of the first half and completing all the second half.
The list of youth players who played in the youth categories last year and made their debut in the 2019-20 league championship is made up of the following players: Borja Sainz (Alavés), Rodrigo Riquelme (Atlético de Madrid), Ansu Fati (FC Barcelona), Iker Losada (RC Celta de Vigo), Víctor Campuzano (RCD Espanyol), Javier Avilés (CD Leganés), Jon Moncayola (CA Osasuna) and Mohammed Salisu (Real Valladolid CF).
