Ángel Villacampa’s statements in his press conference in Lezama ahead of their trip to Barcelona for the fixture against RCD Espanyol tomorrow

Athletic Club Women’s team will face RCD Espanyol at Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque tomorrow at midday on the 7th matchday of the Primera Iberdrola. Ahead of their trip, Ángel Villacampa has delivered his customary pre-match press conference in Lezama. These are his words about their opponents tomorrow: “We are taking a glimpse of how Primera Iberdrola is, I don’t think the table will let us be relaxed, even though they are not going through a good time. Our guess is they’ll take it as a final; they’re playing at home; nothing will be easy.

Villacampa considers the team have changed since their win at Reale Arena: “When playing at Anoeta or against Betis, we had a lot of really good spells. The rest were not as good as we would have liked them to be, but we are closer to forging that identity we are looking for.

When asked about the collective agreement, he prompted a reflection: “It should already exist, they have been fighting for it long enough. Luckily, in our Club they are protected, they are fine. The situation should start being regulated in each and every team the way our Club is doing. I don’t think the strike will be finally called, I believe an agreement can be reached, a stoppage wouldn’t benefit anyone.

The red-and-white manager lost Jone Ibañez and Nekane to injury against Real Betis, but Lucía García and Yulema Corres are returning to action. The travelling squad will be made up of 18 players: Ainhoa Tirapu, Ainhoa Moraza, Andrea Sierra, Andrea de la Nava, Garazi Murua, Damaris Egurrola, María Díaz, Maite Oroz, Yulema Corres, Eunate Arraiza, Marta Unzué, Lucía García, Marta Perea, Leia Zarate, Vanesa Gimbert, Ane Azkona, Oihane Hernández and Oihane Valdezate.
