Granadilla, unassailable territory

Athletic Club Women’s team have not managed to pick up any points on any of their visits to UDG Tenerife Granadilla

Game week eight in Primera Iberdrola brings a great challenge for Athletic Club players, with UD Granadilla Tenerife as their opponents. The lionesses are looking for a poker of consecutive wins, but the precedents are not good for them, as they have not been able to take any points from Tenerife on any of their four visits.

The first time both clubs met in the First Division was in the 2015-16 campaign, when the red-and-white team were defeated 2-1. The following seasons they lost 4-0 and 4-1 and last year they fell 3-1 at La Palmera. Coincidentally, all four matches were in phase two of the domestic league.

La Palmera, an artificial grass pitch, will host the clash between an Athletic on a roll and a UDG Tenerife with half the points of the side managed by Ángel Villacampa; 12 and 6 respectively. The Canary Islanders were really affected by Sara Tui’s departure to Madrid CFF last summer but, in spite of this, David Amaral’s side are a tenacious team, especially in their grounds, and have prominent featured attackers such as the veteran María José.
