“The team has done a magnificent job”

Athletic Club’s manager, Gaizka Garitano, has expressed his satisfaction with the point obtained by his team on their visit to Villarreal CF, at La Cerámica: “I am content with the point because the team did a magnificent job and I find it even more valuable because of the venue. With the exception of Madrid and Barcelona, I think this is the team with the best offensive setup in the category. They had scored 17 goals in five home games and have huge offensive potential.”

The red-and-white coach has praised the work done by all his players: “We worked very hard in which already was the third game of the week. We knew we needed a lot of organis     ation because they can score on any play. They had scoring opportunities, but we also got to the area and had chances to score.”

As for Simon’s great performance and Athletic’s lack of goals on the road, Garitano replied: “It is true that Unai made three or four great key saves, but we also had chances and we sent them out. We’re creating a lot of opportunities, but the ball doesn’t end up in the net. Our crosses are better now, but we couldn’t find the goal. And if you don’t score away from home, your game has to be close to perfection to earn points.”
