The lions with the most hat-tricks
Aritz Aduriz made against Granada CF, rival of this Sunday in San Mamés, the last hat-trick of a footballer from Athletic to a team of the current Liga Santander
Granada CF, Athletic Club’s rival on Sunday, was the last first division team to suffer a hat-trick from a red-and-white player. Aritz Aduriz, on February 28, 2014, obtained one of the five hat-tricks (4 in League, 1 in Supercup) he has achieved with the red-and-white shirt. In the 26th matchday of La Liga 2013-14, the striker was the protagonist of the local victory 4-0 against the Andalusian team, scoring the first three goals of a victory that finished Carlos Gurpegui. Aduriz scored the first with a header in the seventh minute, the second with a shot from outside the area to the corner in the 18th minute and ended with a penalty a quarter of an hour from the end.
Aduriz’s hat-tricks place him among the most important scorers in Athletic’s history in this particular hat-tricks classification (not counting those who have scored 4 or more goals in a match) and who are indisputably headed by Telmo Zarra and three of the members of Athletic Club’s second historic striker.
