Stoichkov, a Golden Ball winner paying a visit to Athletic

Hristo Stoichkov, Fútbol Club Barcelona’s ex forward, who is now working as a journalist for American channel Univision, has been visiting Athletic Club from Thursday and will be attending the fixture with Sociedad Deportiva Eibar in the Directors’ Box. The Bulgarian former footballer has been making a documentary, which will be released in the following months, including several institutional and sporting figures,

Stoichkov has given Athletic Club a couple of gifts as a token of appreciation, a small replica of the Golden Ball he won 25 years ago and a shirt he wore when he was playing for that FC Barcelona. On it, he has written the following words: “I will never forget San Mamés’ excellence”. He still remembers how respectful the spectators were towards all the rivals who ever visited La Catedral. Aitor Elizegi has presented him with a customized red-and-white shirt, with his favourite number (8) printed on it.
