“I would set up a statue to all those who fight on the front lines”

Aritz Aduriz answers #FromHome to the questions asked by supporters and media

Turn for Aritz Aduriz. The Athletic’s striker has answered #FromHome to the questions that both supporters and media have sent him via the different official channels of the Club.

Aduriz has received many thank-you messages from the red-and-white supporters, to whom the player from San Sebastian has shown his gratitude, but he has remembered that “it is clear who are the ones who really should have recognition. Sincerely, they are the ones who deserve a statue, the ones who fight in the front line to turn this situation around. Events are showing us all what is really important.”

Asked about the Copa final, Aduriz said that “there is nothing in the world that makes me more excited than playing it. This team deserves it and we all dream of winning it with Athletic. It would be the best. Even so, I think that right now there are more important things that we have to solve together before the Copa final.”

Questioned about the sweetest moment he has experienced with Athletic, Aduriz has highlighted the Super Copa title won in 2015 or the qualifying for the Champions League in 2014, although he admits that where he has enjoyed most has been in the day to day: “Breakfast all together in Lezama every morning. The simple everyday moments are the most beautiful for me.”

Regarding his future, after hanging up his boots, Aduriz explained that “one way or another I will continue to be connected to football. I will need some time to reflect and do things that I have not been able to do until now, but the ball was my first love and I am sure that I will continue to be connected with it.”

The striker has also had words for subsequent generations of footballers. He has stressed the importance of “never giving up. That is the most important thing, that your team-mates always see you as someone who does not stop fighting, who always shows his face.
