Ane Azkona renews until 2023

Athletic Club and Ane Azkona have extended their contract until June 2023. The 21-year-old from Navarre native has earned herself a place in the first team this season and not only that, but she will also be one of the leading players in the red-and-white forward line in the coming years, along with Lucía Garcia and Yulema Corres, who have also renewed their contracts until 2022.

Azkona, who started the season after playing at the subsidiary team, has played 22 games this season, 15 as a captain in Primera Iberdrola, and two at the Queen’s Cup (Copa de la Reina). The player has shone on the right wing, where her speed and intensity while pressuring the opponent can be seen. She is the greatest assistant of the team (she has given 5 passes-goal) and the second scorer (5 goals) behind Lucía García, who scored 9.

She arrived in Lezama in 2016 from a team named ‘Ardoi de Zizur Mayor’ and she was trained at ‘Gazte Berriak club’. She made her debut with the first team in November 2016 against Levante and, since then, has been counting on minutes in Primera until settling definitively in the higher category this year.
