In 1911, April 15, Athletic Club won its fifth Cup title (Copa del Rey) after beating CD Español de Barcelona in Jolaseta in the final
Today, 109 years ago, April 15, Athletic Club beat CD Español de Barcelona by 3 goals to 1 in the Cup final thanks to the goals scored by Veitch, Belaunde and Garnica in the first half hour of the match. A victory that meant the fifth Cup title for the lions, in an edition that was held in the Jolaseta, located in Getxo.
Athletic Club, who dropped out Fortuna de Vigo (2-0), Bilbao (4-1) and Gimnástica Española (2-0) in the previous qualifying rounds, lined up the following players; Astorquia, Arzuaga, Allende, Iza, Belauste, Mandiola, Belaunde, Zuazo, Garnica, Veitch and Smith in the final match that was played at 16:30 hours on Saturday, April 15th, in 1911.
