Oihane Hernandez renews her contract until 2023

Oihane Hernández and Athletic Club have reached an agreement so that the player from Biscay can keep defending the red-and-white colours for, at least, three more seasons.  Just like other players did such as Ane Azkona, Oihane will extend her contract until June 2023. Both of them have earned a fixed place within the first team last January by performing at the highest level at the Primera Iberdrola.

Despite being 19, Oihane has shown character in the defence. This season, in which she started with a record at the subsidiary team (where she played two clashes under the orders of Iraia Iturregi), she has played a sum of 19 matches with the team lead by Villacampa; 15 of them as a head of the team in the League. An unforgettable course for Oihane who played for the first time in San Mamés against Barcelona FC in the league and made his debut against UDG Tenerife at the Queen’s Cup (Copa de la Reina). The young player from Sopela has occupied the position of right back and has taken advantage of her qualities to give depth to the team from that wing.

She arrived in Lezama in the 2015-2016 season from the team ‘Betiko Neskak’ and she was a very regular player in her years in the red-and-white branch. She made her debut on January 5, 2019 against Atlético de Madrid in Majadahonda. She has also played international matches with the Spanish national team at U-17 and U-19 , and she is currently a regular in the U-20 team. Her record includes a gold medal at the European Under-19 Championship, beating Germany in the final in 2018.
