The Lezama graduate signs a contract until 2023 to become a full-fledged member of the first team and takes over the no.19 shirt left vacant by Kenan Kodro
Oier Zarraga has signed a new contract with Athletic Club, making him a full member of the senior squad through to 2023.
Zarraga will take on the no.19 shirt left vacant by Kenan Kodro’s loan move to Real Valladolid.
The central-midfielder started at Lezama with the Athletic U-11s and has already played five matches for the first team in the 2020-21 season, including making a start against Sevilla in October.
Zarraga made huge progress last season, his first with Bilbao Athletic, scoring five goals in 29 appearances.
His performances impressed then head coach Gaizka Garitano, who called up the youngster to the first team for pre-season training in the summer.
So far in the 2020-21 campaign, the midfielder has played in nine matches for the reserves (only one of which was a loss) and scored two goals.
