Berenguer in top goalscoring form

Athletic Club winger Alex Berenguer has been putting his goalscoring boots on of late.

In Sunday night’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal CF, Berenguer scored his fourth goal in the last five games to take his LaLiga Santander 2020-21 tally to six.

What’s more, in doing so, the versatile player has risen to top of Athletic’s LaLiga 2020-21 goalscorer ranks, followed by Iñaki Williams with five and Iker Muniain with four.

The signing from Torino scored his first brace as a Lion the week before in the 0-4 victory over Cádiz. Those goals were also his first for Athletic outside of Bilbao, as his strikes against Levante, Betis and Getafe had all come at San Mamés.

Since arriving at Athletic in October, Berenguer hasn’t missed a LaLiga Santander fixture for the Rojiblancos. He’s made 20 appearances, 15 as a starter and five as a substitute.
