Iker Garay’s story

Iker Garay’s story

Iker’s story is dedicated to all the members who asked for someone else to take the ceremonial kick-off

There were dozens of stories from members who thought that the ceremonial kick-off would be the perfect opportunity to show gratitude, recognition, admiration or affection towards another person or group of people.

Many of the stories started in a similar way: “I don’t deserve to take the ceremonial kick-off, but I wish with all my heart that…” Grandfathers, grandmothers, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, friends… an endless network of relationships with a common bond: Athletic Club.

It was very difficult to pick just one of these stories. And to get it right was almost impossible.

Iker Garay is a doctor in the A&E Department at Basurto Hospital in Bilbao. He also asked not to take the ceremonial kick-off for himself, but for his fellow health workers.

His request brings together all of these similar stories, because if there is a group that deserves recognition and applause, it is health workers.

In this tribute to the supporters, there had to be an Athletic story to remember the health workers.

Iker Garay’s Story. Stories that deserve to be told. Stories written from the heart. True and moving stories
