‘Bocha’, legendary Independiente player and winner of the One-Club Man 2022 Award, received a standing ovation from the San Mamés crowd before Athletic Club vs Valencia CF
Ricardo Bochini, winner of our 2022 One-Club Man Award, received a rapturous recepetion at San Mamés as he stepped out onto the pitch to pick up his prize on Saturday afternoon.
Fully aware of what Bochini’s means to Club Atlético Independiente, and vice versa, spectators at The Cathedral rose to their feet in recognition of a footballer who spent his entire playing career at his boyhood club.
Considered the best no.10 in Argentinian football until the arrival of Diego Maradona and then Leo Messi, ‘Bocha’ only ever pulled on the strip of his beloved ‘Red Devils’. In his time with Independiente, Bochini won four top-flight titles along with four Copas Libertadores, three Copas Interamericana and two Intercontinental Cups.
Just before kick-off, José Ángel Iribar and an Athletic academy player presented the One-Club Man trophy to the former Independiente player
