Match Pack: Sevilla FC vs Athletic Club (LaLiga MD38)

The Lions head into the final LaLiga fixture with dreams of Europe and will be looking to clinch the sought-after seventh place

It’s all or nothing for Athletic Club as they face Sevilla FC in the final game of LaLiga 2021/22. After last week’s win against Osasuna, the Lions are eighth on 55 points and their European dreams are very much alive. Meanwhile, Villarreal are just one point ahead in seventh place and Los Rojiblancos need Unai Emery’s side to fall at the Camp Nou.

Athletic have the tie-breaker if both sides finish on the same points. Therefore, if Villarreal lose, a draw would be enough for Athletic to qualify. Should Villarreal draw, Marcelino’s side would need all three points to move up to seventh. And finally, if Villarreal beat Barça, Los Leones cannot go through.

As for Sevilla, the Andalusian side have already qualified for the Champions League, but now they are fighting to snatch third place from Atlético Madrid. Make sure you tune in for what is bound to be an exhilarating end to LaLiga 2021/22.

Founded in 1890, Sevilla FC first reached the Primera División in 1934. Since then, they have only been relegated twice, in the 97/98 and 99/00 seasons.

Currently managed by Basque coach Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla are fourth in the LaLiga Santander table with 67 points. They head into the final match of the season on a run of four draws and one win in their last five fixtures, that victory coming against Levante almost a month ago.
