Athletic Club strengthens its position in Gipuzkoa

Irun-based side CD Dunboa-Eguzki becomes partner club until 2030 and Athletic expands its network in Gipuzkoa with Asier Gisasola as head of scouting in the province

Athletic Club has strengthened its presence in the province of Gipuzkoa. As part of the declared strategy of professionalising, intensifying and increasing interest within the process of attracting Basque players, the Club will direct more people and resources towards scouting and recruitment in the region.

New partner club: CD Dunboa-Eguzki

CD Dunboa-Eguzki, based in Irun and founded in 1986, has become an Athletic Club partner team, signing an agreement until 2030. The outfit joins fellow Gipuzkoa-based side Antiguoko KE as part of Athletic’s wider sporting project in the province.

CD Dunboa-Eguzki’s focus will be the recruitment and development of football players in the Irun area, as well as the Nothern Basque Country and the north of Navarre. Between all the different ages groups and their academy, CD Dunboa-Eguzki currently manages around 200 players.

At the same time, in order to boost recruitment, Antiguoko has contracted Amara Berri KE from the San Sebastian area as an affiliated club for a period of four years.

Scouting structure

Under the new leadership of Mikel González (Head of Youth Development) and Raúl Loroño (Head of Scouting), Athletic Club is renewing and expanding its structure in the province with the appointment of a Head of Scouting in Gipuzkoa in the form of Asier Gisasola (until now Head of Scouting at SD Eibar), plus the additions of Aitor Ayerza (Head of Scouting in Gipuzkoa at Deportivo Alavés) and Xabier Erkiaga, who will head up scouting and recruitment in the Deba coastal area as well as the Lea Artibai region
