Athletic to face CA Osasuna in Copa semi-final
The first leg will be played at El Sadar on wednesday March 1 and the second leg at San Mamés on tuesday April 4
Athletic Club will face CA Osasuna in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, which will be played over two legs. The first leg will be played at El Sadar on 1 March at 21:00 CET and the return leg will be played at San Mamés on 4 April 22:00 CET.
In the other semi-final Real Madrid will take on FC Barcelona.
Los Rojillos have eliminated CD Fuentes, CD Arnedo, Nástic de Tarragona, Real Betis and Sevilla FC. In LaLiga Santander, Jagoba Arrasate's team are seventh in the standings with 28 points, with eight wins, four draws and seven defeats.
Athletic and Osasuna have faced each other six times in the Copa del Rey, with the Lions winning every time. However, the two sides have never met in the semi-finals.
The last Copa del Rey clash between the two teams was in the round of 16 during the 2008/09 season. On that occasion, the first leg finished 1-1 at El Reyno de Navarra. In the second leg, Athletic won 2-0 at San Mamés with goals from Igor Gabilondo and Ion Vélez.
In the 1960/61 season, they met in the round of 32 and after losing 1-0 in Pamplona, Los Leones went through after a 2-0 win in Bilbao.
In 1955/56, the first leg took place at San Mamés, with Athletic winning 4-1, and the second leg at El Sadar, where they drew 2-2.
