20 years since the Lionesses' first match at San Mamés

On 30 March 2003, Athletic Club played at The Cathedral for the first time, beating Puebla 5-1 on the way to their first league title

Athletic Club Women's first official match at San Mamés was a 5-1 victory over Puebla on 30 March 2003. A 5-0 win over Híspalis a month later secured a first title for the Lionesses', who were level on points with Levante UD at the end of the Championship. The match at The Cathedral broke the attendance record for a women's match, with 35,000 fans in attendance.

The Lionesses have played a total of nineteen matches at San Mamés, including a then record European attendance record for a women's football match, with 48,121 spectators at the Copa clash against Atlético Madrid in 2019:
