General assessment of the players' physical condition

Josean Lekue, head of Athletic Club's medical services, has appeared before the media to give a general assessment of the players' physical condition at the start of the pre-season. 

All the medical tests carried out in conjunction with IMQ, the Club's official sponsor, have passed normally and with favourable results, meaning that "the general condition of the squad is very good". 

Lekue has informed that Valverde is currently without Yeray Álvarez, Yuri Bechiche and Imanol García de Álbeniz.

In the case of the centre-back, who underwent successful surgery on his pubis in May, "he is at a very advanced stage of recovery and we hope that he will train normally with the rest of the team when he returns from the trip to Mexico."

With regard to Imanol, who underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon in February, the Athletic Club doctor highlighted that "everything has gone very well, he has worked hard with us over the summer and we hope that he will also be back with us when he returns from Mexico."

Finally, Lekue said that Yuri, who is also recovering satisfactorily, will join the group "a little later, as his injury occurred on the last day of LaLiga. We hope that by the end of the month, before the end of the pre-season, he will be at full fitness under Valverde's orders."
