The right-back becomes the seventh player in Athletic Club history to reach half a thousand appearances in the red and white jersey, joining Iribar, Txetxu Rojo, Muniain, Etxeberria, Iraola and Susaeta

After starting for Athletic Club at San Mamés in their LaLiga 2023/24 Matchday 1 fixture against Real Madrid, Óscar De Marcos has reached 500 official appearances for Los Leones.

At 34 years old, the versatile player joins a group of seven players who have achieved the same feat: Jose Angel Iribar (614), Txetxu Rojo (541), Iker Muniain (536), Joseba Etxeberria (514), Andoni Iraola (510), Markel Susaeta (507) and De Marcos (500).

Oscar has been an ever-present symbol and leader for Athletic over the last 15 years, not just for this exploits on the pitch, but also thanks to his charitable and social work off it.

He arrived at Athletic in the summer of 2009 from Deportivo Alavés to play for Bilbao Athletic, but his quick adaptation made his time with the reserves very brief.

In fact, made his offical Athletic debut on August 6 that same summer in a Europa League tie against Young Boys in Switzerland. Fifteen seasons later, De Marcos has reached the milestone of 500 matches with a total of 37 goals. In the current squad, only Iker Muniain betters Oscar in terms of appearances.

Two Spanish Super Cups, four Copa finals, a Europa League final and sixty-five European appearances make De Marcos a standout figure in one of the Club's golden eras.
