The boss previewed Athletic's upcoming derby against Deportivo Alaves at San Mames
Ernesto Valverde warned that Athletic Club's players must stay focused during Saturday's LaLiga derby against Deportivo Alaves at San Mames (21:00 CET).
The Lions are unbeaten in three matches in all competitions and are just two points away from Atlético Madrid in fourth place.
"We have to concentrate on tomorrow's game which is difficult enough," Ernesto said in his pre-match press conference.
"Alavés are a very competitive team who are going to make things very difficult for us. It's a derby and there's an emotional element that goes with that."
The Gasteiz-based outfit, led by Luis García, have had a solid campaign and are now 10 points clear of the relegation zone in their first season back in LaLiga.
Valverde said: "Alavés have the ability to hurt us. We're playing at home and we've been on a good run at San Mamés. I understand that some people think we're favourites but these games are played at a different pace. These three points are very important for us."
