Aitor Paredes extends his contract until 2029
After producing some great performances so far this season, the centre-back has signed a four-year extension
Athletic Club defender Aitor Paredes, 23, has signed a new long-term contract which will keep him in Bilbao until 30 June 2029.
Born in Biscay, Paredes has been at Athletic since under-11 level and has shown great progress this season, with 32 of his 49 first-team appearances coming in 2023/24.

Aitor has grown steadily under Ernesto Valverde since making his debut last year in a LaLiga clash against Cádiz CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla. In 2023/24 he has become a regular name on the teamsheet, making 29 starts with 10 official matches still to be played.
The central defender's only senior goal to date was the second in our 0-2 win over Sevilla FC at the Sanchez-Pizjuan.
The defender has also been an ever present in Spain's youth sides and was part of the squad which finished runners-up in last summer's European Under-21 Championship.
Paredes signed his new contract at San Mames on Friday morning alongside Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte and director of football Mikel González. This deal follows the Board of Directors' policy and contains a fixed salary with a variable component based on meeting certain objectives.
