Simón has become the fifth Athletic player to win the award for the LaLiga goalkeeper with least goals conceded
After Athletic Club's 0-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, Unai Simón has won the 2023/24 Zamora Trophy for the LaLiga goalkeeper with fewest goals conceded during the season.
Simón, who has played a total of 36 games this season, has conceded 33 goals, with an average of 0.91 goals conceded per game. His major rivals for the award were FC Barcelona's Ter Stegen and Real Sociedad's Álex Remiro.
The Lions' number one is the fifth Athletic shotstopper to win the Zamora Trophy after Gregorio Blasco (1929/30, 1933/34 and 1935/36), José Maria Echevarria (1940/41), Raimundo Lezama (1946/47) and Jose Angel Iribar (1969/70).
