Dani Vivian commits to Athletic Club until 2032
The centre-back renews his contract for six seasons before he concentrates for the European Championships
Dani Vivian and Athletic Club have taken a big step forward to continue together for many years to come. The centre-back has signed for six more seasons than his contract, until 30 June 2032.
The centre-back signed his new deal alongside club president Jon Uriarte just before joining Luis de la Fuente's training camp in search of a place in Spain's squad for the upcoming European Championships.
Vivian's growth has been meteoric. At the age of 24, the centre-back from Vitoria-Gasteiz has become an undisputed centre-back, making no less than 40 appearances this season (37 starts) out of the 103 games he has played in three seasons. His great performance earned him his international debut in a Spain friendly against Colombia at Wembley in March.
Vivian joined CD Basconia from Santutxu FC at Under-18 level and made steady progress at Lezama. He went out on loan to CD Mirandés in the 2020/21 campaign, where, despite his youth, he became captain during his first season in professional football.
Scorer of three goals as a Lion, the Copa winner has the longest contract in the squad alongside Oihan Sancet. It is a sign of the confidence of both parties in the project. In line with the Club's policy, the contract has a variable component based on objectives.
Director of football Mikel González believes that Vivian's commitment to Athletic Club "is another sign of the players’ attraction to the project."
"He is a player in continuous evolution, with a winning mentality and his ambition on a daily basis has made him one of the best centre-backs at the moment.
"His level of concentration, speed and ability to defend forward fit perfectly with the profile of centre-back we are looking for in our demanding style of play."
