Valverde: "This point feels good after an intense week"

The gaffer lauded his player's accuracy from set-pieces and their character as they took home an important point against a "tough to beat" Betis side.

Ernesto Valverde praised Athletic Club's resilience after they equalised twice to take a hard-fought point against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín.

Aitor Paredes and Oihan Sancet headed home from two Alex Berenguer corners to ensure the Lions took something back to Bilbao.

"When you're the team that goes behind and then draws it feels better," Ernesto Valverde said after the match. "We bounced back well got a point which feels good given the intense week we've had."

The gaffer was particularly happy with how Athletic got their goals, saying attacking set-pieces was a part of the game where "we are improving".

The draw extends Athletic's unbeaten run in LaLiga to thirteen matches, with the Zurigorri's last defeat coming in October against Girona, our opponent at San Mames next Saturday.

The boss said: "We didn't give up and we fought back at a difficult ground and against a team that's tough to beat. Regardless of the result, we have the team we have. It's a guarantee that whoever plays will give their all."
