De Marcos goes level with Muniain in Athletic Club appearances
The Zurigorri captain joins former teammate and legendary Athletic playmaker as the player with second most appearances in club history
After featuring in Sunday's fixture against RCD Espanyol, Óscar De Marcos has moved level with legendary Athletic player Iker Muniain in number of games played for Los Leones.
Sunday's match was the current captain's 560th appearance for Athletic, his 428th for the Zurigorri in LaLiga. Added to that, De Marcos has made 53 times in the Copa, eight in the Supercopa and 71 in Europe (63 in the Europa League and eight in the Champions League).
Together with our former no.10, Oscar is only behind Jose Angel Iribar in all-times appearances for his boyhood club.
What's more, the defender has reached this milestone after 16 seasons in Bilbao, which speaks volumes of the no.18's level of performance and consistency throughout all those years.
