LaLiga announce kick-off times for first three 2026/27 fixtures
Athletic will open their campaign at San Mames against Sevilla FC on Saturday 22 August, travel to face FC Barcelona on Thursday 27, and then head to Vigo on Sunday 30
Edin Terzić’s Athletic side are set for a challenging start to the2026/27 LaLiga season, with three matches in the eight days.
The Lions will kick-off their campaign against Sevilla FC at San Mames on Saturday 22 August at 17:00, the same day Aste Nagusia (Bilbao's Big Week) begins. Five days later, on Thursday 27 at 21:00, they will travel to face FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou, our Matchday 1 fixture which has been postponed due to the World Cup. Athletic will then round off the week with a trip to RC Celta on Sunday 30 at 21:00.

- Thursday, 27 August. 21:00. FC Barcelona vs Athletic Club (Matchday 1)
- Sunday, 30 August. 21:30. RC Celta vs Athletic Club (Matchday 3)
Due to the large number of players taking part in this final week of the World Cup, LaLiga have rescheduled three fixtures from the opening weekend, which will take place over the weekend of 15 August: Athletic vs Barça, Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad and Valencia vs Betis.
Between Athletic Club and FC Barcelona, there are 14 players involved.
