Terzić: “We will play our football, no matter against who or where”

Edin Terzić spoke to the media ahead of the match between Athletic Club and FC Barcelona. The Lions’ manager highlighted the difficulty of the challenge, but made it clear that the team will stay true to its identity: “We’re going to play our brand of football, no matter who we’re up against or where we’re playing.”

The German manager praised the calibre of their upcoming opponents: “We’re part of one of the best leagues in the world and we’re preparing for a very difficult match against one of the best teams in the world. They’re bordering on perfection at the moment, but we’re focusing on ourselves.”

Terzić also highlighted the Blaugrana’s strength at home: “They didn’t drop a single point at home last year. It’s a very difficult match for any team that’s played there, but our players are well prepared to secure a positive result.”

Following the match against Sevilla FC at San Mamés, the manager wants to look ahead: “It was a tough match given the circumstances, but that’s in the past now.” 

Athletic now face a demanding week with three fixtures, two of them away from home. “It’s a busy week, with three matches and two away from home. We have confidence in the players we have available and we’re keen to deliver,” he said.

Finally, Terzić commented on the referee’s decision in the last match, which was subsequently acknowledged to have been incorrect: “As I’ve already said, I don’t like to talk about refereeing decisions. Obviously, I didn’t like it, and it has now been admitted that it wasn’t correct. I know how difficult refereeing is. It must be a decision from which everyone can learn so that it doesn’t happen again.”
