“I have so much confidence in my team; we’ll get back on the winning track soon”
Edin Terzić, frustrated that Athletic’s overwhelming dominance against Deportivo Alavés did not result in a win, remains hopeful about the future of the Lions
“It’s human to be disappointed today, but not tomorrow. We have to pick ourselves up. We created chances, but we failed to turn our dominance into goals. Now we have a three-week break and training sessions to work on making changes. The answer is in Lezama and we’ll use the most of the time we have.”
Edin Terzić expressed confidence in his players despite the disappointing result in the derby against Deportivo Alavés. Athletic lacked fluidity and precision, something the German manager hopes to change during these weeks’ break from competition:
“We need to play complete matches, not just dominate certain aspects of the game. We’re frustrated and unhappy at not being able to win, but the good thing is precisely that we are – that this team wants more.”
Athletic now have a break from competitive fixtures for several weeks. This is time to continue emphasising the ideas and concepts that the Zurigorri manager wants to instil in his players:
“In these three weeks we can’t change our league position, but we can work on changing and improving our performance. Let’s focus on what we can change. I have great faith in my squad and believe we’ll get back on the winning track quickly.”
