Terzić: “It's a point we have to live with”
The gaffer admitted the draw was a fair result but saw plenty of room for improvement from his team
Edin Terzić said that Athletic's 0-0 draw against Valencia CF at Mestalla on Saturday night is a result he can "live with" given how the circumstances of the game.
The Lions dominated the first half, but fatigue, yellow card and injuries saw the Athletic take their fade after the break.
“It was a crazy, emotional game," the gaffer said post-match.
"It was a well-deserved point for both sides. Around half-time, we felt we were in control of the game, but it's a point we can live with at Mestalla."
Edin acknowledged that the way the match unfolded forced the team to alter their original plans, saying: “In the second half, due to the yellow cards and injuries, we had to make several changes.”
Terzić also noted that Javier Aguirre's side "controlled the game well and were strong on the counter-attack”.
The gaffer recognised his players need to be sharper in the final third, stating that his side "created occasions, but not chances".
He continued: "It’s one of the things still on our to-do list. We need to create more goal-scoring opportunities. We spend too much time in danger areas, giving the opposition the chance to block and stop the move.”
