The young forwards have become the 663rd and 664th players to make their competitive debuts for the Zurigorri first team
Athletic Club secured an important victory against Getafe CF at San Mamés. A match full of good news and joy that also saw a new chapter in the story of official debuts. Christian Imga and Txus Vizcay played their first minutes for the Lions’ first team. They are the 663rd and 664th players to make an official debut.
The winger from Zumarraga, aged just 17, took to the pitch at La Catedral to replace Nico Williams in the 68th minute of the match. Having started the season with Basconia and made his debut for Bilbao Athletic on 6 September, Imga made his first appearance for the Lions: “It’s a day I’ll never forget, especially as we won. When the manager called me over, I could hear the whole stand on their feet and I was more eager than ever to get on. My team-mates cheered me on and really spurred me on. It’s an indescribable feeling.”
Meanwhile, Txus Vizcay came on in the closing stages to replace Iñaki Williams in the 84th minute. The striker from Huarte's impressive form for the reserve side – with four goals at the start of the season – saw him complete the attacking line-up for Edin Terzić’s team: “An unforgettable day for me; I’ve been dreaming of this moment for six years, ever since I arrived here. I’ve experienced it very intensely. I was a bit nervous, but once I stepped onto the pitch, everything went incredibly well. A dream come true.”
