Terzic: “We’re on the right track. That’s the message”

Edin Terzić praised the Lions' "peserverance" after their 2-1 LaLiga Basque Derby victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

It was a triumph built on the hard work and commitment of all the Zurigorriz players, spurred on brilliantly by the San Mames supporters.

“We’re delighted with the win," Edin said in his post-match press conference.

"Winning a derby brings immense joy to the fans, and these are points we needed. We’re on the right track – that’s the message.

“We’ve beaten a very strong opponent who have some incredible players. We took risks on numerous occasions, but the team were sensational and responded brilliantly to different situations. The way they pressed, the way they created chances… I’m very proud as a manager.”

There was plenty of attacking football, but Unai Simón’s superb performance in goal also played a crucial role. The German tactician paid tribute to the world’s best goalkeeper.

He said: “If anyone had any doubts as to why he won the award, this match is proof enough. He brought stability at key moments in the match and was crucial in securing the points.”
