Bilbao Athletic remain unbeaten

Lezama keeps being a fort for the side managed by Joseba Etxeberria, who prevailed 4-1 over Real Valladolid reserve team

Bilbao Athletic have prevailed 4-1 over Real Valladolid Promesas in the 10th matchday of the Second Division B Group II held at Lezama. They are still unbeaten at home, consolidating their position at the top of the table.

Javier Baraja’s side had their first approach to their opponent’s area before the ten-minute mark had passed, but Ezkieta cleared the danger. A bit later, Sancet responded with a long left-foot shot from the distance. On 19 minutes, a strike from Areso was cleared for a corner by Gaizka, and it was after that corner-kick that Urain headed the first ball of the evening into the net. On 37 minutes, a penalty from Jaime over Artola, after a great collective play from Joseba Etxeberria’s team, was finished off by Morcillo, who sent a low shot past the visitors’ goalkeeper. A margin of two goals that they took into the break.

The second half started with Real Valladolid Promesas’ goal, in the 55th minute: a corner-kick from the right of the visitors’ attacking flank was headed into goal by Oriol, after a great first intervention by Ezkieta. Fortunately, the long goal scored by Zarraga with his head, only five minutes after conceding, returned the confidence that a two-margin goal usually gives. It was Zarraga himself who rounded off the scoring on 76 minutes, with the final 4-1 after a fine play inside the box and his dry right-foot shot.

Next weekend, Bilbao Athletic will play at Lezama again, taking on UD Logroñés on the 11th matchday on Sunday 3 November, kick-off at 11:00 a.m.
