Iñaki Williams: Top 4 consecutive LaLiga matches in history

After making a 172nd consecutive LaLiga appearance, Iñaki Williams goes ahead of Di Stéfano in LaLiga’s rankings

With Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Villarreal CF, Iñaki Williams made his 211th appearance in a LaLiga fixture, the last 172 of which have been consecutive.

This feat places Athletic’s no.9 at fourth in the list of players with the most back-to-back appearances in LaLiga history. What’s more, the striker is the only active player in the Top 10.

Iñaki’s incredible run began on April 20, 2016, in a match against Atlético Madrid at San Mamés. Since then he hasn’t missed a game, being an ever-present in the lions’ matchday squads.

After overtaking Alfredo di Stéfano (171), Williams still has two goalkeepers and one outfield player ahead of him. Former Athletic keeper Andoni Zubizarreta is in third place with 184 consecutive matches and Luis Miguel Arconada is second with 188. The top spot currently belongs to Jon Andoni Larrañaga, who made 202 successive appearances.
