The Lions took home all three points thanks to a late goal by striker Iñaki Williams and three magnificent saves by shotstopper Unai Simón. Athletic were forced to play a smart game and waited patiently for their chance. It came in the 90th minute when Oihan Sancet launched a counter-attack before teeing up Williams, who curled the ball past the onrushing Sevilla keeper.
