Athletic to play FC St. Gallen, Dynamo Kyiv and Borussia Dortmund in Switzerland
Two of the matches will be played at FC St. Gallen’s home stadium, Kybun Park
Athletic Club will hold a pre-season training camp in the Swiss city of St. Gallen, from July 16-24. The camp will include three friendly matches: against FC St. Gallen (17th), Dynamo Kyiv (20th) and Borussia Dortmund (24th).
The first and third fixtures will be played at Kybunpark, St. Gallen’s 20,000-capacity stadium, while the clash against Dynamo Kyiv will take place in the city of Winterthur.
Fussballclub St.Gallen, the oldest club in Swiss football, finished seventh in the last season’s Swiss Super League. The most popular player in their history is former Chilean footballer Iván Zamorano.
Dynamo Kyiv, coached by Mircea Lucescu, won the league and cup double in Ukraine last season. Eleven of their players are currently representing Ukraine at Euro 2020.
Borussia Dortmund, who finished third-placed in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup in 2020-21, have a wealth of highly sought-after young players. Erling Haaland stands out, but they also have England’s Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.
