Adu Ares makes Athletic Club debut
The 20-year-old Lion, coming on against RCD Mallorca, became the first player to make his debut with the senior side under Valverde this season
Adu Ares became the 633rd Lion to make his debut for Athletic Club's first team, replacing Iñaki Williams in the 86th minute of Athletic Club's LaLiga 2022-23 opener against RCD Mallorca.
After a remarkable breakthrough last season with Bilbao Athletic and a great pre-season with the Lions, the right-footed forward became the first youngster to make a debut under Valverde this season.
The Bizkaia-born player joined the attack in the final few minutes and shared the front line with Gorka Guruzeta - who made his comeback appearance at San Mamés - Raúl García and Nico Williams.
"It's something I've been fighting for since I started this. I dedicate it to my family, without them none of this would have been possible," Adu said to the Club's media after the Matchday 1 fixture.
