Yuri Berchiche signs one-year contract extension

Yuri Berchiche has put pen to paper on a one-season contract, extending his stay at Athletic up to 30 June 2027.

The 36-year-old left-back signs this new deal off the back of yet another fine season, having played 39 matches -35 as a starter- across the 2025/26 campaign.

The agreement was formalised on Friday at San Mamés alongside club president Jon Uriarte and our director of football, Mikel González.
The Zarautz-born player will now enter a ninth season with Athletic Club’s first team, having joined from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2018/19 season. That move marked a return to Lezama, where he had spent two years in the club's academy.

Yuri has become a regular at left-back for Athletic. So far, he's made 278 appearances, scored 15 goals and provided a number of assists. He is a true icon amongst the fans for his competitiveness and determination, with his honours including the 2024 Copa and the 2021 Spanish Super Cup.
