“Tomorrow is a great opportunity to pick up three important points at home”

Edin Terzić is confident about the team’s positive form ahead of their clash with Atlético Madrid

Edin Terzić appeared pleased and confident in the press room at Lezama ahead of tomorrow’s match (4.15 pm) against ‘Cholo’ Simeone’s Atlético Madrid: “We’re fully focused on our strengths to win the match and making the most of them. We want to apply intense pressure and then play as a unit in attack. We’re not going to change what we do.

"Tomorrow is a great opportunity to pick up three important points at home, and hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate with our fans at San Mamés.

The German manager does not see it as a relief; he is well aware of the team’s standard and its potential: “I enjoy working, and I have a fantastic squad to do so with. The past few weeks have also been good, despite not having secured a win. With the three points from Sunday, the atmosphere is even better. It’s a great pleasure to work with this squad. They enjoy working, as do I, and it’s a perfect match.”

The gaffer believes the team they’ll face tomorrow will be a very tough nut to crack: “I think they’ve undergone a major transformation in recent years. I don’t buy into the narrative that Atlético are a defensive side."

"They’ve changed in recent years and have a lot of talented players in midfield who make the team play differently as the match progresses."

"We’ll have to communicate very effectively to identify the patterns of play they’re using and minimise our mistakes. We can’t afford to relax for a single moment throughout the 90 minutes.
