Nico Serrano makes his first-team debut
The 18-year-old became the third player to make his senior debut this season, and the fourth in the Marcelino era
Nico Serrano became the 630th player to make his Athletic Club debut when he came on for Iñaki Williams in the 83rd minute of the Lions’ 2-0 win over RCD Mallorca on Saturday night.
The young forward joined Marcelino’s attack alongisde Asier Villalibre and Nico Williams, the latter Serrano’s Bilbao Athletic teammate last season.
Serrano is the third player to make his senior debut in this campaign, joining goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala and defender Dani Vivian – who scored his first goal as Lion in Saturday’s victory.
Those two made their first appearances during Athletic’s LaLiga 2021-22 opener against Elche CF at the Martínez Valero. With Nico Williams’ debut last season, on Matchday 33 against Real Valladolid CF, four players have made debuts under Marcelino, and all of them are homegrown players.
