With Beñat Prados' debut at El Sadar, and Unai Gómez and Imanol the week before, three youth players have already made their first appearance for Athletic so far this season
Beñat Prados became the 637th Lion to make his debut for Athletic Club when he replaced Imanol García de Albéniz (the 636th Lion) during Saturday's LaLiga victory over Osasuna in Pamplona.
The versatile midfielder became the third player to make his debut under Ernesto Valverde this season, following Imanol and Unai Gómez, who got their first official minutes against Real Madrid on the opening day of the season.
"I've achieved a dream. I'm very happy to make my debut. I've done the easy part, now the hard part is to maintain it. But I'll work hard for it," Prados said after the match at El Sadar.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been at Athletic since 2015, joining at under-15 level from feeder club, UDC Txantrea. Since then he has climbed up through the ranks at Lezama and had a productive loan spell at CD Mirandés last season.
