Seven cubs to start pre-season with Valverde
Goalkeepers Padilla and Gastesi, defenders Rincón, Egiluz and Adama, midfielder Jauregizar and forward Olabarrieta will start with the first team on the 8th
Seven players who played for Bilbao Athletic last year will begin the pre-season under the orders of Ernesto Valverde in a week's time, on Monday 8. They are goalkeepers Alex Padilla (20) and Oier Gastesi (20), defenders Hugo Rincón (21), Unai Egiluz (22) and Adama Boiro (22), midfielder Mikel Jauregizar (20) and winger Aingeru Olabarrieta (18).
Three of them will repeat pre-season, Padilla, Rincón and Egiluz, who travelled to Mexico last summer. Mikel Jauregizar was a regular player in the first team squad last year, appearing in ten matches, and both Olabarrieta and Egiluz made their first appearance as Lions in a match.
Left-back Adama Boiro, signed midway through last season from CA Osasuna, will arrive to reinforce a position currently occupied by Yuri Berchiche, Iñigo Lekue and Imanol Garcia de Albeniz.
Padilla and Gastesi come to solve for the absence of Unai Simón, who will undergo surgery at the end of the Eurocup, to complete the trio of goalkeepers in preparation alongside Julen Agirrezabala.
