The Opponents
Head coach: Francisco Javier García Pimienta
Known better by his surnames, García Pimienta, the Barcelona native took over at Sevilla FC in June 2024 after an impressive period in charge of UD Las Palmas.
Before that he had been a youth coach at FC Barcelona since 2005, spending three years with their main reserve team. He brought UD Las Palmas back to the top-flight and led them to 16th-placed finish last season.
Summer signings:
There was a lot of pre-season movement as Sevilla look to rebuild their squad, with eight players coming in on permanent or temporary deals and over 15 players leaving the side.
IN: Lucien Agoume (midfielder, from Inter Milan), Peque Fernandez (forward, from Racing Santander), Kelechi Iheanacho (forward, from Leicester City), Chidera Ejuke (winger, from CSKA Moscow), Álvaro Fernandez (goalkeeper, from SD Huesca), Albert Sambi Lokonga (midfielder, loaned from Arsenal), Valentin Barco (defender, loaned from Brighton), Saul Ñiguez (midfielder, loaned from Atlético Madrid).
Recent form:
It's been a mixed start to the season. The Andalusians failed to win their first four matches, but have picked up two victories in their last three games.
