Unai Egiluz makes Athletic Club debut

Defender Unai Egiluz has become the 638th lion to make an offical debut for Athletic Club. The centre-back lined up alongside Peru Nolaskoain in Wednesday's Copa clash against UE Rubí and played until he was replaced by Dani Vivian in the 71st minute.

Egiluz is the fourth youngster Ernesto Valverde has handed a debut to this campaign, joining Imanol, Unai Gómez and Beñat Prados.

"I've accomplished a dream I've had since I was a child," Unai said after the 1-2 win at the Campo Can Rosès. "I'm proud of all the work I've done and now I need to keep going to get more opportunities."

The Biscay-born footballer arrived at Lezama in 2018 to play for the Under-17s. From there Unai went up to CD Basconia and he is currently in his second season with Bilbao Athletic, where he has made a total of 34 appearances so far.
