Madrid CFF beat the Lionesses at Lezama
Athletic initially took the lead when Pinedo scored direct from a corner, but they were not able to hold on for the win
Madrid CFF took a 1-2 victory against Athletic Club Women at Lezama on Sunday evening, bringing an end to the Lionesses' winning record at home this campaign.
The visitors, third in the Liga F table before the clash, came from behind to win after Clara Pinedo put Athletic ahead with a goal direct from a corner kick in the 13th minute.
David Aznar made a few changes to the side after the midweek Copa victory over Granada. For example, Sanadri was back in the side to replaced the injured Nahikari García.
Madrid set about playing themselves back into the match, with Brazilian forward Luany forcing a couple of fine saves from Adriana Nanclares.
Karen Araya equalised with a controversial direct free-kick in the 36th minute. Athletic were unlucky not receive a foul as Nanclares was tripped by a Madrid player when she went for the ball.
Athletic went close to re-establishing their lead on the stroke of half-time, Landaluze having a header cleared off the line by a Madrid defender.
After the break, Madrid's Pardo threatened with an effort that skimmed the crossbar, Nanclares kept out Ana González with a great save, but in the 79th minute, Cris Librán was in the right place to tuck away a deflected ball into the box.
