The Lions got off to the perfect start, going 1-0 up in the 10th minute. Iker Muniain stole the ball high up the pitch before squaring it for Raúl García to finish.
However, the Andalusians stuck back on 24 minutes after Darwin Machis fired past Unai Simón. A couple of unfortunate bounces then allowed Jorge Molina to put Granada ahead.
Athletic came out firing after the break. Nico Williams looked dangerous on the right, Raúl García hit the crossbar and substitute Oier Zarraga forced Luis Maximiano into action with a stinging whipped effort from outside the box.
Los Rojiblancos got their equaliser in the 76th minute, with Maximiano scoring an own goal. Raúl García flicked on a long ball which Iñaki Williams prodded towards goal, in the resulting goalmouth scramble, and under pressure from Muniain, the ball richocheted off Maximiano and went in.
