Athletic defeats Iraola’s Mirandés 2-1 thanks to goals from Aduriz and Nunez
The Athletic Club preseason ended with a victory worked in Miranda by 1-2, with the opportunism of Aduriz and the physical power of Nuñez in a corner showing the differences. The best news is that there are no injuries and they can prepare for the match of FC Barcelona, although unfortunately the date is still unknown.
The friendly was marked by a suffocating heat. It started with a threat of Kenan Kodro entering from the left that cut Limones. Andoni Iraola’s team tried to start playing from behind and the lions adjusted the pressure up. Aritz Aduriz did not forgive a serious failure of Merquelanz when trying to play with Limes and marked with a dry shot stuck to the right post of the local goal.
The Mirandés, far from fitting badly the blow, warned with a right of the ex cub Mario Barco, which forced Herrerín to make a good save. Closer to goal were the locals in a foul hung by Merquelanz towards Guridi who headed to the post. Athletic stretched somewhat and Aduriz headed out a good cross from Balenziaga’s left.
The second half started with more verve and chances. Álvaro Rey warned, but Athletic caught the 0-2 after a corner kick forced by Larrazabal, who lowered a long ball from Herrerín to fly to Limones with a volley. Beñat took a corner and Núñez headed powerfully at the far post. Just a minute later, a penalty has been awarded to the centre-half for knocking down Matheus. The local centre-forward was merciless. The game stuck until the end, helped by the freshness of the changes.
